Check
out this pretty
Candle with Metallic Leaves by Deena Ziegler at
Sizzix.com. Just use your
Sizzix Originals
Die - Leaves to die cut decorative metal. I have fairie
vignettes on the mind these days (we just held our Fairie
Festival at the Studio) and even though this candle was
created for a fall theme, I can see this metallic and
natural color scheme flanked by luscious greens for a
pretty natural table setting. Want to perk it up for
summertime, just pick a perky summer-colored candle. The
metallic leaves would look great! >>Tiff |

Walnut
Hollow manufacturers high-quality unfinished wood for
crafts. They kiln-dry their wood and the extra effort on
their quality makes for an amazing product. They've been
doing this since 1972. Check out all of their project idea
pages - from home decor accents to the office collection of
boxes, shelving and frames. I love this
Decorative Paper Frame project by Janet Wilhelm. Walnut
Hollow also has woodburning and wood carving ideas. Check it
out! It's truly worth the time! >>Heidi |
My
project pick of the week comes from
tipnut.com.
They have put together snippets of
Old
Time Tips for Flowers and Plants. These quick tips come
from a household booklet published in 1947 featuring advice
given for handling plants, cut flowers and a couple
gardening related tips. Love it! >>Candace |
My project pick
this week is are these beautiful
Brightly Colored Bangles by Jana Ewy for Amaco. I found
this great project on
FaveCrafts.com. Using seven different colors of Friendly
Plastic to create alternating bands of bright colors, these
bangles are formed over rubber tubing. Gotta try it! >>Tiff |

I
discovered these absolutely adorable Hip in A Hurry rub-on
wall decor designs while searching the
joann.com website this week. With sizes starting
from 4-1/2" up to a generous 35", you can quickly spruce up
or change the look of your room. These can be applied
to walls, doors, windows, mirrors, furniture and more!
These rub-ons go up quickly and come down cleanly, making
them ideal for apartment dwellers or college students.

| Did you know? Beads have been significant for many cultures for eons. They've been used as money and worn as talismans and amulets to bring wisdom and fortune to the wearer. Found dating back 38,000 years, beads have been made from pebbles, shells, teeth, claws, clay, glass and more. Glass became an important material in beadmaking with its discovery around 3,400 years ago. Source: Michelle McKenzie |
| Did you know? Scrapbooks, as we know them today, started many centuries ago, in the form of Common place books, friendship albums, Granger books, photo albums, journals, diaries, scrapbooks and now web pages. Did you know that Mark Twain was an avid scrapbooker? He dedicated Sundays to enjoy his hobby. Mark Twain was a lifelong creator and keeper of scrapbooks. He took them with him everywhere and filled them with souvenirs, pictures, and articles about his books and performances. But in time, he grew tired of the lost glue, rock-hard paste, and the swearing that resulted from the standard scrapbook process. So, he came up with the idea of printing thin strips of glue on the pages to make updates neat and easy to do. In 1872, he patented his “self-pasting” scrapbook, and by 1901, at least 57 different types of his albums were available through Montgomery Ward catalog. It would be his only invention that ever made money. Source: www.pbs.org |
