![]() Releasing Creative Clutter - Karen Kingston reminds us that clutter is “stuck energy that keeps you stuck in undesirable life patterns.” Therefore, you can sort out your life by sorting out your junk, But what is junk? In my favorite childhood book, Billie Brown Makes Something Grand, Billie’s mother attempts to clean his room of all the ‘junk’. He begs her to stop as he sees it with different eyes. He sees it as treasure because of the wonderful gifts that he knows he can make and the joy creating and giving gifts brings. I saw a hilarious video recently from the Crafty Chica where she felt that she needed to throw away some tiny scraps of some fabric that she adored and yet had yards and yards of. It hurt her to throw away even the tiniest scrap. Her mind said toss and her heart said treasure. She tried to throw it into the trashcan several times but just couldn’t do it and then she said, "I guess I will put them in an envelope for now." I really resonated with this. Creative beings can see the magic of every scrap of every thing ‘cause we know that just 1 inch of something terrific can make all the difference. I always hear a voice in my head that says “Yes it looks like trash but what an amazing little leaf that could be.” I’m not saying that it is wrong to keep these things. I am saying that it’s time to take stock of what you have and embrace what you love, and let the rest go. Release things that are taking up valuable energy-holding space in your home and heart and let them find a way to bless the world in another’s hands. That really helps me. Letting go can be hard but then I remind myself that they will be a blessing in someone else’s hands vs. collecting cobwebs in my own. Perhaps you carry a little guilt around over some unfinished projects that are taking up space in the closet? The kind of guilt that says “you can’t make anything else new and wonderful until you finish what you have started!” But you might not have any desire to finish those things anymore and that is o.k.!
