Aleene & Woody Jackson Wedding Photo 1942 -- Aleene and Woody get married at Forest Lawn in Los Angeles.

At this time, Mom was still working for Lockheed and Dad was an airplane mechanic at Cal Aero in Ontario, California.

Not too long after Mom and Dad married, Mom was interested in learning more about flower arranging. Forest Lawn had arranged the flowers for her wedding so she went there to get a job. Only, they weren't hiring.

In her usual tenacious way, she talked the manager into letting her "just watch" while the others worked. After a short while, she was offered a job there.  Her job was to strip the roses of their thorns, clean the dead petals off the mums and ready the flowers with wires and picks. She was determined to get into arranging flowers, so she found a new job at The Ambassador Hotel flower shop.

She thought that this experience would prepare her for her own business.
