Aleene's Grandmother Nettie Alice Evans Jackson (we called her GG for great grandmother) loved teaching wood fibre floral classes.
(GG is standing in photo.) In this 1952 photo, you can also see all of the beautiful wood fibre floral arrangements in the vignettes along the wall. A popular wood fibre flower at the time would have been the Wild Primrose. Here is an original Aleenes instruction sheet from 1951. ![]() The second photo to the left is Vera Jackson, Aleene's mother. While she was well versed to help in teaching classes, her job at the business was sending out the mail orders. As kids, we can remember her sitting at her manual typewriter and typing and typing and typing mailing labels. This photo was taken in the classroom area which was set up for a luncheon complete with sandwiches, olives and cookies! Grandma Jackson and Pappy Jackson made such a cute pair. He was big and burly and she tipped the scale at 4' 10" and all of 90 pounds. Click here to view next Wood Fibre page>> Go! |
