We're not sure of the exact dates, but based on Aleene's
hairstyles in other photos at this time, in about 1952 Aleene
became involved with helping book hobby model guests for
segments on a show hosted by Dick Whittinghill on KTTV in
Los Angeles. Aleene recalls, "Dick had a show on every Saturday and I found hobby model guests for him to interview. It seems to me that this show was on for 4 or 5 hours each Saturday. One day, it was time for the day's hobby model guest to go on air and Dick decided that he wanted a coffee break. He told me that since I had booked the guest and I knew all about them anyway, that I could interview the guest and he walked off the set to his coffee break!" Aleene interviewed the guest on-air and her television popularity continued to blossom from there! This photo is promoting "What is it? Guess what hobby item is in this H.I.A. - KTTV Mystery Box?
