Life Magazine The title of the article was "Money-Makers of a New Era" and Aleene was featured in a full-page color photo. The page description reads: "FLOWER FABRICATOR Aleene Hershman, at work in the synthetic garden setting of her studio at Temple City, Calif., fashions the petals of an artificial President Hoover rose from Formosan wood fiber. Aleene's firm sells all the parts, perfume and instructions for making more than 65 different kinds of flowers." Notice that there is a white jar [kind of looks like a mayonnaise jar!] of Aleene's Tacky Glue on the table along with the gum arabic glue that Mom used at the time to glue the wood fiber flowers together. |
